Atlanta Civil Rights Experience
Saturday, August 17, 10:00 am – 1:30 pm
The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is a museum and human rights organization whose iconic exhibitions feature the papers and artifacts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the history of the civil rights movement in the United States, and stories from the struggle for human rights around the world today. PRUMC and Cascade UMC will visit The Center together and then share a meal at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. The total cost of the experience is $50 and will be capped at 60 participants due to the nature of our group reservations.
The Great Organ Shapes Up
The Great Organ, after over 20 years of faithful service, will receive much needed updates. Over the next four weeks, workers from the Mander Organ firm in London will carefully replace aging pieces of electronic equipment that control the many sections of both the chancel and gallery instruments. Just like a television from 20 years ago, the electronic components have become outdated and even obsolete. During this time, as much of the organ will be unplayable, worship will be led by the piano – a great fit for our Summer in the City style! We are so fortunate to have these craftsmen from England help our King of Instruments last for many decades to come.
Summer Reading
Kate Bowler – Summer Reading & Save the Date!
The One Lamb Mental Wellness Initiative is excited to announce that Kate Bowler will be speaking at PRUMC on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Kate is a NYT best-selling author, a Duke Divinity theologian, and the persona behind the popular podcast, “Everything Happens.” Offerings are being planned leading up to the big event and we are starting with a summer reading list. Pick up her books “Everything Happens for a Reason” and “No Cure for Being Human” and get ahead by reading them this summer!
