The Doves of Peachtree Road
Peachtree Road United Methodist Church is proud to present a magnificent work of art created to commemorate the spirit of our people and our Centennial. As a gift to our congregation and community, we offer “The Doves of Peachtree Road” – a breathtaking installation of origami doves ascending through the sacred space of our sanctuary – inspiring peace, hope, and wonder.
Peachtree Road UMC is privileged to be the third location in the United States and the seventh location worldwide to present an origami dove installation of this scale.
The doves will fly from November 2024 through June 2025, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this incredible work of art with our congregation and community. The Doves of Peachtree Road is the work of Taro’s Origami Studio in Philadelphia – a creative team renowned for bringing the ancient Japanese art of origami to life in powerful and moving ways.
Taro’s Origami Studio specializes in bringing the beauty of origami to people of all ages and backgrounds. Their mission is to make origami accessible and engaging, with projects that range from intimate teaching sessions to large-scale installations like ours. Through creativity, precision, and passion, their artists transform simple pieces of paper into expressions of art and emotion.
Taro’s Origami Studio worked with Peachtree Road UMC to create a vision that captures the essence of the dove—a timeless symbol of peace and the Holy Spirit. Suspended from the high ceiling of our sanctuary, the doves gracefully fill the space with movement, spirit, and hope. With this installation, Taro’s Origami Studio has not only created a beautiful work of art but has also provided a shared experience for our congregation and community.
As we celebrate 100 years of faith, fellowship, and service, we are grateful to Taro’s Origami Studio for making this milestone memorable. Their art has enriched our sanctuary and reminded us of the beauty that can emerge when art, community, and faith come together.

ATLANTA, November 12, 2024 – Over 1,000 intricately folded paper doves now soar through the sanctuary of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, inviting moments of wonder, reflection, and reverence for all who enter. This breathtaking installation, inspired by similar works gracing renowned cathedrals around the world, celebrates the centennial of Peachtree Road UMC and is free for all to experience from November 2024 to June 2025.
The installation, officially unveiled on Sunday, November 10, has already enthralled congregants. Doves in a sweeping, upward flight symbolize hope, peace, and possibility. The doves appear to ascend from the back balcony, flowing through the sanctuary and rising into the cupola, capturing the feeling of transcendence.
“The dove is a beloved symbol of our faith, a representation of God’s spirit and presence,” shares Rev. Bill Britt. “We are honored to share this exhibit with worshipers and guests, allowing these beautiful doves to inspire hope and connection within our sanctuary’s walls for the months ahead.”
Peachtree Road UMC invites everyone in the Atlanta community and beyond to experience the beauty and spirituality of the installation. Docent-led tours offer insights into the sacred art and rich Christian symbolism that fill the sanctuary, providing an immersive experience of this remarkable milestone in Peachtree Road UMC’s history.
