At Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, baptism is a sacred act that signifies initiation into the Christian faith and community. As a means of grace, it is a joyous and profound moment in the life of the church and the individual.  Symbolic renewal through cleansing waters signifies the washing away of sin and the beginning of a new life. Through baptism, individuals are welcomed into the body of Christ, the church.

During the baptismal service, the individual makes a public profession of faith, affirming their belief in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and their commitment to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Following the baptism, the individual is prayed over and blessed by the clergy. The congregation joins in welcoming the newly baptized member into the church family.

Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith. Newly baptized adults are encouraged to actively participate in the life of the church through worship, study, service, and fellowship. The church community supports and nurtures them as they grow in their faith and discipleship.
